Mission

Waghearted supports animal welfare causes through the creation and sale of fun, stylish, safe, and practical clothing and accessories for dogs and their human companions.

The Waghearted Story

At Waghearted, we’re crazy about dogs. That’s what drives us to do what we do: make modern, functional products for dogs and their owners that have an exuberant sense of fun... and purpose. A portion of our profits goes to support animal shelter and rescue charities. Our goal is to help find solutions to the many pressing animal welfare issues we face in the U.S.

Our passion for dogs is matched by years of experience in design, sourcing, and production of consumer goods for some of the most recognizable brands in the world. This experience has led us to adopt vigorous selection standards for our manufacturers. All of our partners are required to sign and adhere to our vendor code of conduct—which is based on internationally accepted labor standards and which outlines our requirements for safe and fair working conditions. This code also requires full compliance with local and international laws regarding environmental safeguards. To create the best, you must work with the best, and that’s what we strive to do in every aspect of our business.

Our desire to create great products can’t overshadow some basic practical concerns: product safety and our environmental footprint. That’s why we bring keen attention to the materials we use in our products. They must be safe for pets and people and durable for long life.

To these ends, our fabric products are double-stitched for durability and feature simple embroidered or printed designs rather than decorative embellishments, such as rhinestones, that could harm a dog if ingested. Our beds have recycled filling, and the hardware for our collars and leashes is lead-free. More good news: our wearable products, towels, and blankets are all machine-washable.

Our packaging is designed for recyclability and to minimize waste. For example, we use just header cards, made from recycled paper, for the in-store display of all of our products. Our hangtags are also printed on recycled paper. Of course, these cards and tags can be recycled again, so virtually none of our packaging needs to add to the landfill.

We truly enjoy creating these products. It’s challenging and rewarding to bring beautiful design to the petware category, and to apply that design to products that are truly useful. Enjoy!
